“In my landscapes I use sand, oils, acrylics, emulsion, chalk, spray paint… My paintings evolve from the random application of materials and, as in cave paintings that use fissures and cracks on the surface of the walls to suggest animal forms, a landscape emerges. I never set out with a final image in mind. They are a product of memory and imagination. The use of broad brushstrokes, sand and grit helps to create a tension between the picture plane and the representation of a three dimensional subject in two dimensions.”
